Susan Martz serves as major gift officer for Phoenix Children’s Hospital. In this position, Martz is responsible for leading strategic fundraising development for the new Heart Center, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and the Scottsdale Specialty and Urgent Care Clinic among other development initiatives at Arizona’s only freestanding pediatric hospital. Martz works to engage families with supporting
Prior to joining Phoenix Children’s Hospital Foundation, Martz spent 14 years in various fundraising positions at elite private colleges and universities, including Rice University as Senior Director of Leadership Gifts at Creighton University, and Senior Director of Development at Colorado College. Most recently, Martz served as assistant vice president for major gifts at Rice University where she led a team of 18 development officers as part of Rice’s $ Billion comprehensive campaign.


Martz brings a depth of experience in strategic planning, public relations and film production. She earned Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) accreditation, and holds memberships in the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) and Association for Healthcare Philanthropy (AHP). Martz earned her MA from the University of Colorado and her undergraduate degree from Northern Arizona University. Martz is a member of Women in Philanthropy, Scottsdale Rotary and the Junior League. She is the mother of four children, two of whom reside in Phoenix.
